About Ninna, aka The Fat Psychologist

Topics I am passionate about
Happiness at Every Size
I challenge the conventional notions of health and well-being, advocating for a more inclusive approach that recognises the value of all body sizes. Inspired by the Health at Every Size (HAES) movement, I share evidence-based insights on how to promote well-being without focusing on weight loss. I also discuss the psychological impact of weight stigma and how to combat it.
Benefits: Holistic Health Perspective based on HAES and how to apply them in their personal and professional lives, reducing weight stigma and its negative effects to create supportive environments that promote well-being for everyone.
Creating Supportive and Inclusive Work Environments
A supportive and inclusive work environment is essential for employee well-being and organisational success. I discuss the key elements of such environments and how to implement them. I share insights from my work in higher education and consultancy, highlighting the benefits of inclusivity and support.
Benefits: Improved workplace culture that values diversity and promotes wellbeing, understanding the link between inclusivity and employee engagement, leading to higher productivity and job satisfaction, actionable strategies for organisational change.
Embracing Diversity and Inclusion
Diversity and inclusion is important within organisations and society at large. Fostering an inclusive environment can lead to greater well-being and productivity. Drawing from my personal experiences as a white, cisgender, migrant, solo mum, fat person who has experience anxiety and depression, I highlight the unique challenges and opportunities that come with embracing diverse identities. My perspective is also informed by my commitment to anti-racism and LGBTQ+ allyship. As an occupational health psychologist, I ensure that my talk is backed a critical analysis of relevant and up to date evidence.
Benefits: Enhanced Understanding of the importance of diversity and inclusion and how it impacts organisational success, practical strategies to create more inclusive environments that respect and celebrate diverse identities, Empowerment to embrace their own identities and support others in doing the same, leading to a more cohesive and supportive community.
Resilience and Overcoming Adversity
Resilience is the ability to bounce back from adversity and thrive despite challenges. I explore the concept of resilience, sharing my own journey of overcoming personal and professional obstacles. I discuss the factors that contribute to resilience and how individuals and organisations can cultivate this vital trait.
Benefits: The determinants of resilience and how to develop them, practical tools to enhance work environments so people can better cope with stress and adversity.
